Biography

Elvira Babiloni Campos is an international pianist who is particularly renowned for her performances of Spanish repertoires. Her intense concert activity has led her to perform both as a soloist and in collaboration with various orchestras and chamber ensembles on many national stages, as well as in several cities in Central America. She has been in charge of the opening seasons of cycles such as "Los lunes concierto" and "Dilluns al ras" in Castelló de la Plana and she has performed in Spanish cities such as Torrent, Segorbe, València and Vinaròs. She has also performed abroad, in countries such as Cuba, where she took part in a cycle organised by the Ateneo Cultural of the city of Santiago de Cuba.
She has worked as a piano teacher for more than thirty years in various conservatories in Spain, and in recent years she has taught music performance in various national and international courses, in countries such as Japan. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de València, at the Escuela de Música de Barcelona and received advanced lessons from Julián López Gimeno, professor at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. However, the person from whom she really learned the true value of performing, feeling and transmitting music was her brother Manuel Babiloni (1959- 2015), who devoted his life to the study of music through the guitar.
Elvira Babiloni has worked closely with contemporary composers such as Josep Pascual and Ramón Paús. In January 2021 she gave a monographic recital dedicated to the piano works of Ramón Paús at the Auditori i Palau de Congressos de Castelló, and recently she recorded and gave the first public performance of his work Ocre inhalado. This piece was recorded in April 2024 at Estudios Cezanne Producciones in Madrid, with sound engineer Javier Monteverde, and premiered on 8 July of the same year in Castelló, as part of the 'Dilluns al ras' series. The composer Ramón Paús said of her: "The pianist Elvira Babiloni, a creature chosen to distinguish colours and glazes with precision, with portentous qualities for polyrhythms and unattainable subtleties. Well, it was she who took possession of my Ocre inhalado from the very beginning and did not stop until she had fixed it in the recording that you can now access". The recording of Ocre inhalado has been released in digital format by the Novus Promusica record label.
In 2023 she made a recording dedicated to the Valencian musicians Matilde Salvador and Vicente Asencio. This CD, which was recorded at the Auditori de Castelló, will be released in the near future. Elvira Babiloni's repertoire ranges from the 19th century to the present day, with a particular emphasis on the works of Spanish musicians such as Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados, Manuel de Falla, Frederic Mompou and the aforementioned Vicente Asencio, Matilde Salvador and Ramón Paús. Elvira Babiloni is the Vice President of the "Guitarista Manuel Babiloni" Foundation, created in 2016 to protect, promote and disseminate the memory and musical, artistic and human legacy of the universal guitarist Manuel Babiloni.
